Step by step

Below shows an example of a step by step using Acrylic for a commission of highland cattle.

1. No drawing was carried out  prior to the application of paint.

2. Using an initial limited palette of warms colours shapes of the animals were blocked in and tonal ranges established.

3. Additional colours were added and the cooler range of colours produce a contrast against the warm underpainting.

4. Highlights were strenghtened and drawing refined.

5. Fine brushwork sharpens the image.
